Horseshoe admissions down 3.5%, wagering off 11%
Admissions to Horseshoe Southern Indiana fell from 193,525 in January 2011 to 186,653 in January 2012, a drop of 3.5 percent, according to a monthly gaming report released Wednesday by the Indiana Gaming Commission. The amount wagered at the Elizabeth, Ind. riverboat casino fell about 10.9 percent, from $211.9 million in January 2011 to $188.9 million last month. The amount won by players fell 15 percent from $22.5 million a year ago to $19.1 million last month. Attendance at the casino has been hurt the past few months because of the closing of the Sherman Minton Bridge over the Ohio River, which has made it more difficult for casino patrons to get to the casino from Kentucky.<div class="feedflare"> <a href="http://feeds.bizjournals.com/~ff/bizj_louisville?a=FTYAo--TfBs:5JmpLXs3J1M:yIl2AUoC8zA"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/bizj_louisville?d=yIl2AUoC8zA" border="0"></img></a> <a href="http://feeds.bizjournals.com/~ff/bizj_louisville?a=FTYAo--TfBs:5JmpLXs3J1M:V_sGLiPBpWU"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/bizj_louisville?i=FTYAo--TfBs:5JmpLXs3J1M:V_sGLiPBpWU" border="0"></img></a> <a href="http://feeds.bizjournals.com/~ff/bizj_louisville?a=FTYAo--TfBs:5JmpLXs3J1M:F7zBnMyn0Lo"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/bizj_louisville?i=FTYAo--TfBs:5JmpLXs3J1M:F7zBnMyn0Lo" border="0"></img></a> <a href="http://feeds.bizjournals.com/~ff/bizj_louisville?a=FTYAo--TfBs:5JmpLXs3J1M:qj6IDK7rITs"><img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/bizj_louisville?d=qj6IDK7rITs" border="0"></img></a> </div>

that should be sufficient. However, this hardnosed attitude will do little to repair offended aunts anduncles. Naturally, the best course is to keep relatives frombeing offended in the first place.

A good method is to make an announcement to your familyexplaining your choice. If people hear it straight from you it'sless likely to offend anyone. The family gossip train isnotorious for exaggerations. Also, this keeps people fromfeeling slighted since you took the time to explain things in anon-confrontational way.

Finally, a good course of action is just to keep it secret untilthe baby is born and people get to see and hold your child. Whowill care about family squabbles when the precious child is intheir arms. Waiting for this moment will keep the silly nameargument from gathering steam and will keep the focus on whatmatters: your beautiful new child.

Don't let family conflict keep you from honoring a relative orgiving your baby the name you want. Keep the focus on your childand go out of your way to appease needy relatives. In the end, you'll be glad you maintained your family relationships. Someonehas to watch the baby when you're out, right?
